Oxytropis fetida is endemic to the Alps and has the particularity to be smelly and sticky to the touch because of fetid glands, which gave it its name. It grows at high altitude, in calcareous environments or on calcschist substrates, and is quite rare and scattered. Its leaves are hairy, slimy and divided into 15-25 leaflets pairs. It blooms in clusters of 4-7 flowers.
