Descurainia tanacetifolia

Descurainia tanacetofolia (or Hugueninia tanacetifolia), is an endemic species of the Western Alps. The leaves, from which it derives its name, resemble those of the tanacetus, deeply divided into serrated, acute segments. The small flowers are yellow, with 4 petals and grouped in panicles.

It is an indicator species of mountain tall herbs habitat: plant communities of cool, moist environments, rich in broad-leaved species. The evolution towards shrublands and forests is generally interrupted by periodic avalanches and landslides, and the continuous supply of water from springs and precipitation is essential for the good conservation of these habitats.
