This small plant, which is grey-tomentose due to a thick down, has simple stems and leaves united in basal rosettes that form thick pads; these have lamina divided into 3-5 segments which are, in turn, bifid or trifid. Meanwhile, the cauline leaves are sessile with full lamina or lamina divided into 1-2 thin laciniae. The flower heads, in elongated racemes, are sessile with only the lower ones briefly pedunculate and are formed by several small, yellowish tubular flowers. Its medicinal virtues are well-known, especially among mountain people as this species is linked to high-altitude environments. An excellent appetite stimulant, it also favours digestion and has balsamic, febrifugal and expectorant properties. It also prevents and helps combat \"mountain sickness\". It is a well-known aromatic plant because it is the main ingredient of Genepì liqueur.
