Ranunculus peltatus
(Schrank)
Pond Water-crowfoot
still or little moving waters, puddles
aprile-agosto a seconda della quota
Subalpine, Alpine
This is an aquatic plant with numerous white flowers, carried by long peduncles, that emerge from the water. It is a species characterized by leaf dimorphism: leaves with enlarged, palmate lamina float on the surface, while other leaves, divided into capillary laciniae, are totally submerged. In mountain lakes and ponds, but also in water environments at lower altitudes, it is possible to find the rare Ranunculus trichophyllus, which can be identified thanks to its smaller flowers and the presence of only submerged capillary leaves.
